There is a greatly exaggerated fear towards "contagion" that contradict the actual reality above and beyond what is appropriate and proportionate. Remedying a disease by restricting the masses and damaging the economy is unknown in the history of medicine, rather it is an innovated affair from the disbelievers. As a result of these illogical approaches, we see some individuals suffering from affective disorders, feeling anxious, fearing the unknown. These characteristics are not suitable to the believer, rather from the Qurʾān and Sunnah, we are to taught to be optimistic and put our trust in Allāh, as Allāh the Almighty is the one who oversees and controls all affairs, and it is him to which we return.

Other discussion points:
  • The dangers and impermissibility—based upon the Qurʾān and Sunnah—of having omens (bad thoughts) that have no attachment or correlation to the situation.
  • Exaggerated thoughts is the way the of the disbelievers and the people of innovation and not befitting for Ahl al-Sunnah.
  • Thoughts and feelings of the mind (including pessimism) do not change factual realities.
  • This is a time for retrospection, every person that is disobedient to Allāh can point to himself, seeking nearness to Allāh, hoping for resolution.
  • A believer, regardless of the calamity and hardship he is in, the sins he committed, the acts of disobediences he indulged in, is repentant and remains optimistic, he has only good thougts and hope in his Lord.
  • One should operate on facts, only acting upon sound knowledge, not assumptions, exaggerations, opinions, nor feelings - just facts.
  • Every illness has a meaning behind it, it has a purpose to serve, whether we understand it or not.
  • It is impossible for Allāh to be the one who cures yet some disbelievers claim there is no cure for an illness, rather to say this is a revilement to Allāh's attributes, this is the way of thinking of the orientalists.
